About Tirohanga Counselling

Tirohanga is a Māori word that means “…to have a different view…” which I felt was a fitting name for the important work we do in counselling.

Tirohanga has personal meaning to me as this is also the name of Nana & Poppa’s farm in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

About Gabrielle

I am a transpersonal counsellor and I’m entering this practice with 12-years Life Coaching and mental health practitioner experience.
I’ve got a few degrees in Sociology, Community Development & a Masters of Strategic Management too. I love learning & humanity, our ways of thinking & being.
I’m most passionate about working with sensitive souls who just know there is more to life, who feel deeply and explore the boundaries of their life.
Across my career I’ve worked with and for pregnant mothers, business owners, students, cancer patients, & view each & every person as unique, no matter what their experience.

I’ve learnt a few things that form the key foundations of my practice and how I will share with you.
I consider you the expert in your own life, you know you own truth and this emerges from deep within.

My role then becomes asking the right questions, & giving the right amount of space.
In other words, it’s never my job to tell you what to do, just to facilitate your knowing & share these sacred therapeutic moments.

Therapy is sacred. I view your vulnerability, pains, worries, fears & desires as gold and will treat then as so.

We are equal in a counselling relationship. We tug and pull at the possibilities of your life together. I’ve got your back, both in case you fall, but I’m also holding your vision of creation.

Counselling is a walk side by side. I’m not doing all the work, and neither are you. It’s “enter as you are…” space, yet I’m also fully aware you have the strength and capacity to be you. I believe in you.

So let’s travel together on this journey, I’m looking forward to seeing where we navigate to.
